FARMHOUSE STYLE

My husband and I took a long weekend to drive to Indiana and visit family this past weekend.  Our drive came to around 12 hours including stops to eat and to walk our dog.  We drove through Virginia, West Virginia and Kentucky.  It wasn't until our trip back home to Alexandria that I noticed all of the massive farms and beautiful farmhouses.  There were some really beautiful pieces of land.  I started to think about the people that lived there, what their lives might be like and mostly what did the interiors of these farmhouses look like. 

I started to daydream about having a large piece of land and owning a farm (anyone who knows me is falling out of their chair right now) but really I started thinking of what my farmhouse might look like.  A definite mix of old and new furniture and finishes, reclaimed wood, stacked stone, white walls and great antiques.  I would want the architecture to be mix of traditional and modern elements.  The list could just go on and on.  Here are some images I found inspiring and that give me a glimpse of what I would like my life on the farm to feel like.
